Livelle Mobley

Livelle Mobley is a photographer who specializes in editorial, fashion, and event photography. Based in Atlanta, Livelle has a knack for using angles, colors, and expressions to capture the true essence of a person.

How did you get your start in photography?

I started off doing graphic design and got tired of constantly searching for stock images that represented me and what I wanted to shoot. So, I decided to start shooting for myself, which turned into me shooting stories for The Follow Fashion blog.

How would you describe your photography style?

In the moment.

What is your personal process to capture a great photo?

When I'm shooting events and festivals, I like to become a fly on the wall, take a step back, and just watch, looking for the natural moments of intimacy and joy. During portrait sessions, I like to make my models feel as comfortable as possible. Find some type of middle ground that's not photography to converse and laugh about and then go from there.

What other photographers have influenced you the most? How has their influence shaped your craft?

Joshua Kissi, Ron Hill, Que Duong, Adrienne Raquel, and Shamaal. Most of the influence comes from seeing them grow as artists. Most of these are people I've been following for many years, so I remember what a lot of their work used to look like and where they are now, not only in the art but from a business perspective. Also, Steve McCurry was the first photographer I ever learned about in detail. He's one of the reasons I enjoy documenting so much.

What are some of the challenges you have faced as a photographer?

People being on time! Lol...But, really, the main thing is just finding new inspirations. We're all ever-evolving people, and something that I loved last month might not be the same in the current. Finding new things that move me and evoke emotion is a something that challenges me.

What's next for Livelle?

Focusing more on doing documentary work.

What one motto or quote do you use as a guide to live your life?

"Under any circumstances, ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST, no more and no less. But keep in mind that your best is never going to be the same from one moment to the next."
